Voting in the presidential election on election day January 28th

The actual Election Day for the first round of the presidential election will be held on Sunday, January 28th 2024. On Election Day, all polling stations will be open from 9 AM to 8 PM.

On the actual Election Day, one can only vote at their designated polling station within their voting district, which is indicated in the voter notification sent to each eligible voter. If needed, one can confirm their designated polling station through the Voting Location service provided by Digital and Population data services Agency Polling station service

Voters do not need to bring the voter notification to the polling station. The only requirement is to bring a valid form of identification, such as a driver's license, passport, valid police-issued ID card, or a photo Kela card.

The polling stations on Election Day are as follows:

In the presidential election, a second round will be organized if no candidate receives more than half of the votes in the first round. The second round will be held between the two candidates who received the most votes. The possible second election will be held on Sunday, February 11, and its advance voting will take place from January 31 to February 6, 2024.

Early voting for the Finnish presidential election begins on Jan. 17

The early voting for the 2024 Finnish presidential election will be held from January 17 to January 23. The main election day is on January 28, with a potential second round on February 11 and its early voting from January 31 to February 6. 

In Uusikaupunki, advance polling stations include the Coworking ja etätyötila Messi and a voting bus. Voters can vote in advance at any location, but on the main election day, they must vote at their designated polling station. No voting notification is needed, but a valid ID, like a driver's license, passport, police-issued ID card, or a photo Kela card, is required.

The advance voting begins on Wednesday  22.3.2023 eleven days before election day and ends abroad on Saturday 25.3 eight days and in Finland on Tuesday 28.3.2023 five days before election day.

Voting is a fundamental right of every adult citizen. Every Finnish citizen who has reached the age of 18 years has the right to vote in parliamentary elections. During the 22–28 March advance voting period, eligible voters are free to vote at any advance polling station.

On the actual election day, 2 April, you will only be able to vote at the official polling station of your own voting area. Everyone with the right to vote is sent a notice that contains information on the location of both advance polling stations and their official polling station on election day.

At the polling station, you will be required to confirm your identity with a driving licence, passport, a police-issued ID card, or a similar valid official identity card with a photo.

Voting on Election Day 2.4.2023

On election day 2 april 2023 the polling stations are open between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. On election day, you may only vote at your own polling station, i.e. at the polling station indicated on the ballot paper received by you. The statement of voting rights itself is not required for the vote, but you can take it with you if you wish. If for some reason you have not received the notification, you can inquire about it and / or its information content from the Digital and Demographic Information Agency.
