Election of the President of the Republic 2024

Every Finnish citizen who has reached the age of 18 by 28 January 2024 has the right to vote in the presidential election.

If you have the right to vote, a polling card will be sent to you. You will receive two polling cards, because the presidential election may consist of two rounds. Polling cards will be sent either by post or electronically via Suomi.fi Web Service according to your choice.

You can vote either in advance or on election day.

First round of the presidential election

The election day is Sunday 28 January 2024.
The advance voting period is from 17 to 23 January 2024 in Finland.

Possible second round of the presidential election

The election day is Sunday 11 February 2024.
The advance voting period is from 31 January to 6 February 2024 in Finland.

Voting on Election Day

On election day 28 January 2024 the polling stations are open between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. On election day, you may only vote at your own polling station, i.e. at the polling station indicated on the ballot paper received by you. The statement of voting rights itself is not required for the vote, but you can take it with you if you wish.

NB! You must have an identity card issued by the police, a passport, a driving licence or another official photo ID with you when you go to the polling station.
