School transport

In Uusikaupunki, pre-primary school and basic education students are eligible for school transport to a primary pre-primary school or basic education school designated by the council, when the distance to the school is:

• for pre-primary school and year 1-2 basic education students,
   more than 3 kilometres
• for year 3-9 basic education students, more than 5 kilometres

Distance to school is measured from the students’ permanent home address that appears in the civil registry, from their doorstep to the school gate along the shortest route. Pedestrian and cycle paths are considered primary routes. Whether the route can be used in winter is also taken into account. The municipality is not obliged to organise transport that covers the entire distance.
