Rehabilitative work

On this page

Rehabilitative work activities are organized for persons who have been unemployed for a long time. The initiation of rehabilitative work activities is agreed upon in the activation plan drawn up together with the labor authority.

The purpose of rehabilitative work is to improve the person's life management and to create conditions for employment, to help restore functional capacity or to maintain remaining functional capacity. The rehabilitator's work activities are aimed at tailoring the client's individual needs, supporting the ability to work and function.

Rehabilitation work activities can be organized 1-4 days a week and 4-8 hours a day. The duration of the rehabilitative work contract is 3-12 months at a time. In addition to other income, the person participating in the rehabilitative work activity receives a maintenance allowance of €9/day for the completed working days, as well as, if necessary, a travel expense allowance.

The rehabilitative work activity supervisor looks for workplaces and acts as support for the person participating in the work activity and the workplace during the period.

The following is recorded in the activation plan for rehabilitative work activities: a place of rehabilitative work duration, start and end date working hours h/d, d/wk individual goals of work activities possible obligations (e.g. healthcare visits) date of the follow-up plan

Activation plan

The activation plan, which is drawn up by the rehabilitative work supervisor / social worker / social supervisor, labor officer and client, acts as a reference for the rehabilitative work activity.

The following is recorded in the activation plan for rehabilitative work activities:

  • a place of rehabilitative work
  • duration, start and end date
  • working hours h/d, d/wk
  • individual goals of work activities
  • possible obligations (e.g. healthcare visits)

Instructions for those participating in rehabilitative work activities

The following instructions have been drawn up to make adaptation in the workplace easier:

  • Individually agreed working hours are recorded in the decision of the rehabilitative work function holder, and they are followed.
  • Changes to the activation plan and officeholder decision must be agreed with the rehabilitative work activities supervisor or TE office.
  • Work-related breaks are arranged at the workplace.
  • Work instructions at the workplace are intended to be followed. Independent work is encouraged.
  • Taking care of occupational safety and ergonomics is everyone's own responsibility.
  • The municipality organizes accident insurance for the duration of the work.
  • The maintenance allowance/ operating allowance (€9/day) is paid monthly in arrears, only for days of attendance. It is also possible to receive compensation for the travel costs of rehabilitative work, e.g. a regional ticket.
  • All absences are reported to the workplace as soon as possible (e.g. by text message).
  •  A certificate from a health nurse/nurse/doctor must always be submitted for sickness absences. Absences for which there is no notification or certificate are considered unauthorized absences, and unemployment insurance is not paid for those days either.
  • Intoxicated, under the influence of narcotic substances or with a hangover, do not come to work
  • Days of absence cannot be made back.

The contract will be terminated prematurely if the unauthorized absence has lasted continuously for 5 working days of rehabilitative work. In this case, job search and unemployment insurance are also cut off. In order to continue them, you have to re-register as a job seeker at the TE office.

Kindness and consideration of others always pays off!
