Environmental health care
The City of Uusikaupunki is responsible for environmental health care in Kustavi, Laitila, Masku, Mynämäki, Nousiainen, Pyhäranta, Taivassalo, Uusikaupunki, and Vehmaa.
The purpose of environmental health care is to prevent and reduce environmental health effects as well as to promote the wellbeing and comfort of the inhabitants by monitoring and improving the quality of their environment.
Environmental health care is responsible for monitoring, guidance and inspection tasks related to the Health Protection Act, Food Act, Food Hygiene Regulation, Tobacco Act, and Animal Welfare Act. Environmental health care is responsible for health inspections and veterinary services.
Supervision of animal health and welfare
The supervising veterinarian is responsible for the area’s animal welfare supervision and provides guidance in matters related to animal welfare.

Health monitoring
The purpose of health monitoring is to ensure the inhabitants a safe and healthy living environment. Health monitoring services include the inspection of the health conditions of housing, municipal water, and swimming water, as well as food and tobacco inspections.
