Welfare Area

Social and healthcare services as well as rescue services have been transferred to welfare areas on January 1, 2023. Welfare areas are public bodies with a regional government. 

With the reorganisation, Uusikaupunki has become part of the welfare area of Varsinais-Suomi. The welfare area of Varsinais-Suomi includes 27 municipalities and approximately 49,000 inhabitants. The welfare area will employ approximately 23,000 people.
