Uusikaupunki main library

Uudenkaupungin pääkirjasto ulkoa

Uusikaupunki library is a wooden building next to the marketplace. The original building was built as a school in 1854, and expanded multiple times, last time in 1901. The library moved into the building in 1957. A large-scale renovation was performed in 2020-2025, when the building was completely redone on the inside.

  • The library collection includes fact and fiction in multiple languages, for adults and children both. There's also music, DVD- and BluRay movies, digital and boardgames, and loanable items like excercise equipment.
  • The library's local collection includes new and historical material from and about Uusikaupunki. The material can be read at the library, but not loaned.
  • In the magazine hall you can find the library's newspapers and magazines. The newspapers aren't loanable, and the newest number of the magazines is only readable at the library. The magazine hall has a computer for e-newspapers.
  • The other computers in the library are for free customer use. The gaming computers near the youth section are reserved for gaming.

In addition to library services, you can get official fillable documents and bus timetables at the library for free. Seutu+ travel cards can also be bought and renewed.
