Kalanti library
The Kalanti Library has been located at its current site in the center of Kalanti since 1988.
Staff are available at the library four days a week, and the local library also operates partly as a self-service library.
Service hours, self-service hours, and any exceptions to opening times can be found in the sidebar on the right side of this page.
During self-service hours, the library space, customer computers (excluding the printer), and library collections are available to customers even when staff are not present.
During self-service hours, customers can enter the library using their personal Vaski library card and PIN code.
• The PIN code is the same one used online when renewing loans or borrowing items via the self-service machine.
• When entering, the PIN code and the # symbol are entered into the device at the door.
• You can obtain your PIN code at the library (bring your library card and a photo ID).
• A guardian must obtain the PIN code for minors.
• Each customer must log in using their personal library card before entering, except for community users and small children under adult supervision.
Violating the rules of use may result in restricted access to self-service hours.
Self-service library practices
Morning newspapers are available under the mail slot in the library vestibule before staff arrive.
Borrowing and returns are handled using the self-service machine.
When returning items, materials are sorted according to the machine’s instructions either into the return cart or into the reserved items box located under the machine.
During self-service hours, it is possible to collect reserved materials. Arrived reservations can be found next to the machine, and items must be borrowed using the self-service machine.
Any fees can be paid in cash or by debit/credit card only when staff are present. Fees can also be paid in the online library.
When service hours end and self-service hours begin, everyone remaining inside must log in at the door.
During self-service hours, public meetings or events as defined in the Assembly Act (1247/1999) may not be held in the library unless separately agreed with the library.
The end of self-service hours is announced via public address. After that, the library’s alarm system is activated. Customers must leave the library immediately at closing time. Any costs caused by triggering the alarm system after closing will be charged to the customer responsible.
When entering or leaving the self-service library, customers must ensure that the door locks properly.
The principles of a safer space are observed in the library also during self-service hours.
