Turku-Uusikaupunki Railway 100 Years - Celebration Train on August 2nd

The first train arrived in Uusikaupunki on August 2, 1924, at 5:15 PM.

One hundred years later, on August 2, 2024, at 5:15 PM, the Haapamäki Museum Locomotive Association’s museum train (Lättähattu motor coaches) will arrive to celebrate the event. The celebration will take place at Tervatori, next to the bridge.

Program:

  • Welcome fanfare by Uusikaupunki Volunteer Fire Department
  • Opening words by Leena Arvela-Hellen, city architect
  • History of the railway by Mari Jalava, museum director
  • Music by Women’s Choir D’Ameni

A tourism information point will be present during the event.

The Wahlberg Museum House and the exhibition on the history of the Turku-Uusikaupunki railway will be open on Friday, August 2nd, from 10 AM to 7 PM and on Saturday, August 3rd, from 11 AM to 4 PM.
