SUMU Big Band with Strings Songs About Things - A Tribute to Ultra Bra

Founded in 1994, Ultra Bra became one of the greatest generational experiences of our time. The twelve-member band's leftist tone appealed to the youth at the turn of the millennium and has continued to resonate with subsequent generations.

SUMU Big Band is now embracing the long-standing idea of paying tribute to Ultra Bra. The original arrangements featured a rich orchestration and soundscape to which we want to remain faithful - hence, in addition to the big band lineup, SUMU’s own brilliant string section will take the stage.

Ultra Bra had several vocal soloists, and so does this concert, featuring SUMU's own wonderful singers Anna Karlsson, Pekka Kurki, Elisa Ockenström, Milla Ryytty, and Ari Setälä. Kerkko Koskinen, who became the front figure of Ultra Bra, composed and arranged most of the music. SUMU, on the other hand, is led by conductor Rami Koskinen, who also contributed to the creation of these big band arrangements.

There are many other connections between the two orchestras, which you will undoubtedly hear more about during the concert.
