The city of Uusikaupunki is working on Walking & Cycling Promotion Program with the aim of encouraging people to move more by muscle power. The national goal is to increase acitve mobility modes by 30 % by the year 2030. There are two factors behind the ambition; to decrease the harmful and costly side effects of immobility and to promote environmentally sound transportation.

This region is still in the spreading stage of the corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, the current situation is calmer, and the confirmed infection rate has gone down. Also, the origins of infection have returned to being traceable, for most of the infected.

The developments of the epidemic in Uusikaupunki will be closely monitored and restrictions will be carefully lifted one by one according to the recommendations of the regional Corona group. The lifting of restrictions will start with children and young people. 
 

A total of 213 Corona virus (COVID-19) infections have been confirmed during the pandemic in the five municipalities in our local area. Uusikaupunki 175 infections, Vehmaa 13, Taivassalo 5, Kustavi 5, Pyhäranta 15.
 
The origins of the infection are not traceable in all cases. Therefore, it is essential to comply with the restrictions and safety instructions in force. Please remember that it is highly recommended to wear masks in all public places, and to maintain safe distances of 2 meters between you and others.
