Swimming at Hiu Beach is not recommended due to elevated bacterial levels

The water at Hiu Beach has higher than normal levels of bacteria from faecal contamination.

Because of the high bacterial levels, the water may contain germs that can cause illness. There is a higher risk of stomach, skin and other infections.

The Environmental Health Authority of Uusikaupunki does not recommend swimming at Hiu Beach until further notice.

A new water sample has been taken. The results are expected during week 34. The swimming recommendation will be reviewed when the new results are available.

Updated information will be published on the City of Uusikaupunki website as soon as new results are available.
