Demolition work will cause changes to traffic and parking arrangements in the Wintteri area in spring 2025
The demolition site of the old swimming hall and Pohitulli School will cause exceptional traffic and parking arrangements in the Wintteri area starting February 3, 2025.
The pedestrian route through Koulupolku will be closed at the demolition site from January 27 onwards, and the yard area of the old swimming hall will no longer be accessible for drivers or pedestrians.
Temporary customer parking for Wintteri and drop-off traffic for schools have been arranged at the ice hall parking lot. Access from the parking lot to the swimming hall, sports facilities, and schools will be via Wintteri's yard area, which will be maintained during the winter.
Parking in the yard area is only permitted in the designated accessible parking spaces in front of the swimming hall. Emergency access routes must always remain clear to ensure that emergency vehicles can pass if necessary.
During the demolition work, parking spaces will be limited, so it is recommended to arrive in the area on foot or by bike. There are plenty of bike racks in front of Wintteri, some of which are covered. Additionally, the Vuki ride service and public transport options are available.
- We understand that these exceptional arrangements will be particularly challenging for drivers during the winter, but we want to emphasize that this is only a temporary solution. We kindly ask for patience and attentiveness from everyone moving in the area, states Inkeri Parviainen, Special Expert in Educational Services.
The temporary arrangements will remain in place until the end of August. Once Pohitulli School has been demolished and new parking spaces have been constructed in the area, nearly 300 parking spaces will be available around Wintteri.
