This region is still in the spreading stage of the corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, the current situation is calmer, and the confirmed infection rate has gone down. Also, the origins of infection have returned to being traceable, for most of the infected.
The developments of the epidemic in Uusikaupunki will be closely monitored and restrictions will be carefully lifted one by one according to the recommendations of the regional Corona group. The lifting of restrictions will start with children and young people.
The Uusikaupunki Corona group has decided to remove the mask recommendation for children in first through third grade. This change is in effect immediately. There have been favorable developments in the epidemic situation in our region, therefore the mask recommendation for this group can be lifted. Mask recommendations are still in effect in schools for fourth graders and up.
The regional Corona group has announced that individuals twenty years old and under, can resume outdoor group activities. This will be in effect as of April 14, 2021. Social distancing should still be observed while engaging in leisure activities and hobbies therefore hobbies that require extremely close contact are still forbidden even outdoors.
Corona vaccinations are continuing in this region for people aged 65 and over. Vaccination time for week 16 can be reserved for those aged 65 and over, as well as those in the 1st and 2nd risk groups.
Lines open for booking week 16 vaccinations on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 12.00pm. You can book electronically or by phone. Vaccination time should be booked primarily from your municipality's health center. By the end of this week, approximately 5,400 vaccines will have been administered in this region.
